Have You Ever Wanted to Take a Ride in a German Tiger Tank? Now May Be Your Chance!

If you’ve ever wanted to take a ride in a World War II-era German Tiger I tank, now may be your chance. The Tank Museum is slated to host its popular Tiger Day Spring event this coming April, and it’s offering two lucky attendees the chance to see what life was like serving in the historic armored vehicle.

Tiger 131 is the only surviving Tiger I tank, and it has called the Tank Museum home since the mid-20th century. Captured by the Allies during the Tunisia Campaign, it only runs twice a year, during Tiger Day Spring and Autumn.

Decades after the Second World War, Tiger 131 has remained in the spotlight, thanks its appearance in the 2014 Brad Pitt-led feature, Fury, which also featured the Tank Museum’s own Sherman M4A2E8 Fury.

For Tiger Day Spring 2025, the Tank Museum is offering two lucky attendees (out of an estimated 4,500) the chance to win a ride in Tiger 131. But how do you enter?

One way is through participating in an online auction, with those interested having until noon on March 24 to place a bid. The second method is via a raffle, with £3 tickets being sold until noon on April 2.

Earnings from both the raffle and auction will be put toward safeguarding the museum’s collection.

Speaking in a press release, Chris van Schaardenburgh, the Head of Collections at the Tank Museum, said:

“The Museum Workshop team work hard to keep Tiger 131 running smoothly year-round. The engine underwent a major repair last summer, and with support from specialist engineers it was stripped, repaired, rebuilt and reinstalled in time for the sell-out Tiger Day Autumn event.

Tiger 131 is raring to go for its next outing at Tiger Day Spring in April.”
